Week-by-Week Breakdown
Here’s your revised Junior Cosmo Program Curriculum for ages 8-12 at the DBI CENTER, meeting on Mondays from March 17 - May 8, excluding Session 6 for Spring Break. Each session includes 10 minutes of theory and 40 minutes of hands-on practice, covering both hair and nails each week.
Session 1: March 17 – Introduction to Beauty Basics

Theory (10 mins): Overview of Cosmetology – What is Hair and Nail Care? Safety, hygiene, and sanitation rules.

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Introduction to sectioning and parting techniques using a comb and clips.

Nails: Proper nail filing, shaping, and basic polish application.

Session 2: March 24 – Foundations of Styling & Nail Health

Theory (10 mins): Hair texture and porosity; Nail structure and common nail disorders.

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Learning how to do two-strand twists and simple braid patterns.

Nails: Cuticle care and the correct way to apply a base coat and polish.

Session 3: March 31 – Heat-Free Styling & Creative Nails

Theory (10 mins): The importance of protective styles for hair health; Understanding different nail polish types.

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Creating rope twists and basic flat twists.

Nails: Creating simple nail art using dotting tools and striping techniques.

Session 4: April 7 – Intro to Hair Extensions & Acrylic Nails

Theory (10 mins): Introduction to hair extensions; What are acrylic nails and how do they work?

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Learning how to add simple hair extensions with rubber-band methods.

Nails: Applying press-on nails and designing with gems.

Session 5: April 14 – Advanced Braiding & Gel Polish

Theory (10 mins): The importance of scalp care when wearing braids; How gel polish differs from regular polish.

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Learning basic cornrows and adding beads for creative styling.

Nails: Applying gel polish with proper curing techniques.

Session 6: April 21 – Spring Break (No Class)
Session 7: April 28 – Intro to Hair Coloring & Freestyle Nail Art

Theory (10 mins): Understanding temporary and semi-permanent hair color; Exploring different nail design techniques.

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Using temporary hair color sprays and chalk to create fun looks.

Nails: Creating freestyle nail art using stickers, foil, and stamps.

Session 8: May 5 – Final Showcase & Review

Theory (10 mins): Recap of everything learned and tips for practicing at home.

Hands-On Skills (40 mins):

Hair: Creative hairstyling showcase – students create their own final look using techniques learned.
